About the Courses
Yunus Emre Institute's Teaching System
Our courses are structured in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Language teaching is carried out in six levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) defined according to the European Language Portfolio criteria. Alongside Turkish language instruction, the cultural and artistic events organised by the Yunus Emre Institute create opportunities for cultural exchange so learners may discover Turkish culture as they learn the language.
Courses are delivered by specialists in "Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language" using textbooks, visual and auditory materials prepared by Yunus Emre Institute in accordance with the CEFR and foreign-language teaching principles.

Our Centers
Placement Test
The exam lasts 130 minutes in total — 90 minutes of reading, 30 minutes of written expression and 10 minutes of oral expression. Candidates applying to Turkish courses are placed in suitable levels according to their STS results. No certificate is issued following this exam.
Who should take the exam?
- People who have some level of Turkish knowledge.
- Former students of our courses who attended more than 6 months ago.
Who should not take the exam?
- People with no Turkish knowledge.
- Former students who attended our courses within the last 6 months.
- Those who took the STS within the last 6 months.
Not: STS, results are valid for 6 months from the date of announcement.

- Pre-registration: 1 Aug – 15 Sep
- Placement Test: 20 Sep
- Course Start: 1 Oct
- Course End: 20 Dec
Public Holidays: 29 October Republic Day. No classes will be held on these days.
Spring Term
- Pre-registration: 5 Jan – 10 Feb
- Placement Test: 15 Feb
- Course Start: 1 Mar
- Course End Date: May 25
Public Holidays: April 23 (National Sovereignty and Children’s Day), May 1 (Labor Day). There will be no classes on these days.
Summer Term
- Pre-registration: 1 – 30 Jun
- Placement Test: 5 Jul
- Course Start: 10 Jul
- Course End: 30 Aug
Public Holidays: July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, August 30 Victory Day. There will be no classes on these days.
